The F9F-5 Panther was an american carrier borne jet fighter. The aircraft was developed by Northrop Grumman at the end of the second world war and was the United States’ first successful carrier capable jet aircraft. It first saw combat in the Korean War and was extremity successful, serving in the marines from 1949 - 1954. The aircraft was also ground attack capable, able to be fitted with various unguided rockets and bombs. The aircraft also scored the US’s first kill with a jet, starting its reputation as a formidable fighter.
