The slightly less ugly cousin of the A-6

.
.
The Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowler was a development of the Grumman A-6 Intruder attack aircraft. The EA-6B is a carrier borne, electronic warfare aircraft meant to deploy Electronic Jammers against enemy radar installations. The aircraft was designed and put into service in 1971 and was used primarily for scouting and jamming of enemy radar. The aircraft was capable of carrier anti radar missiles such as the AiM-88 HARM. The aircraft has a four man crew the pilot and three ECMOs or, Electronic Countermeasures Officers. The pilot and one ECMO sit tandem in front and the two others sit behind them. The aircraft has been used in the middle east including many missions during desert storm. The aircraft was fully retired this year in 2019 and has been replaced by the EA-18G Growler, an F/A-18 variant.
