Description
The KADEC KC-82E Vigilant Skua is a modified variant of the KC-82 Petrel carrier on-board delivery transport aircraft, and is designed to act as a carrier based Airborne Early Warning and Control System platform. It features a large fuselage mounted AESA search radar, belly and tail mounted sensor units, FLIR turret, datalink-system and an in-flight refueling probe. Despite its small and compact size, the Vigilant Petrel is a very capable early warning platform. It’s twin turbofan engines are very fuel efficient and allow the KC-82E to perform long patrol missions; this allows it to cover a very large swath of airspace.
