Description
Based on the Elainair E800 regional airliner, the Vigilant Phoenix is an advanced Airborne Early Warning and Command (AEW&C) aircraft designed to detect aircraft, ships and ground targets at long range using an advanced AESA radar. The KE-800A also serves as a small airborne command post, providing command and control and battle management (C2BM) functions for friendly assets. It is powered by two powerful, but fuel efficient turbofan engines which give it superb endurance and range. The Vigilant Phoenix also comes equipped with a number of countermeasure systems including built-in electronic jammers, chaff/flare dispensers, missile approach and warning system (MAWS), radar warning receiver (RWR) and laser warning receiver. It also comes equipped with additional sensors such as a FLIR turret and antennas for electronic intelligence (ELINT).
