Description
The KC-24E Vigilant Coyote is a modified variant of the KC-24D Coyote Plus. It is a specialized tactical Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft. It’s smaller size makes it capable of operations from improvised airbases and can operate closer to theaters of operation. It carries forward many modifications of the KC-24D such as new turboprop engines, mid-air refueling probe, a new missile approach warning system and countermeasure system, and a modified flight control system. Futhur modifications such as a large fuselage mounted radome, antennas and winglets help distinguish the Vigilant Coyote from other variants of the Coyote family. Given its capabilities, the Vigilant Coyote is being phased out of service and is being replaced by the more advanced KE-800A Vigilant Phoenix.
