3rd generation high altitude rocketplane for X-plane contracts in RP-1.
Flight ceiling is 75km with X-2 cockpit unlocked in R&D. Capable of exceeding 1300 m/s at extreme altitude (bleed speed on decent to prevent overheating)
Enhancements over HSXR-02:
- Twin XLR-11 engines
- Swept wings
- Landing gear further back on body for easier landing (this plane should be air launched - NOT suitable for runway take-offs)
- RCS for attitude control at altitude (HTP/Helium RCS fuel added to cabin)
Stall speed with full flaps is approximately 50 m/s, making gentle landings easy.
