Description
Supersonic jet airplane for X-planes contracts in RP-1. This version uses upgraded J57 turbojet engines and aluminium stringer tanks, but it can be downgraded to the base version of the engine and aluminium tanks and still be decently performant.
Take off speed without flaps is around 130 m/s. Be careful pulling up, it has very good pitch authority and can strike its engines on the runway if pitched too abruptly.
Top speed in the upgraded spec is approximately 710 m/s at 17,000 m. The base versions of the engine will overheat at under 600 m/s (but still good enough for the first couple of optional contracts)
Landing should be done with full flaps at around 100 - 130 m/s. Care should be taken to keep the nose high to prevent bouncing if the front gear contacts first.
A long runway is recommended but not essential. It can operate from a standard level 3 runway but margins will be tight.
